Save your images from your camera onto your computer or obtain them from another source.
Open Adobe Photoshop and choose File > Open > browse to the desired file and click 'Open'.
Locate the 'crop' tool
in the tool tray. Depending on your version of Photoshop, you might find this by clicking on the 'Selection' tool and holding your mouse button down until you see the icon appear.
Click the 'crop' tool and then move to your image and draw a rectangle with your mouse around the part of the picture you want to keep.
Let go of the mouse and you should see your selection highlighted. You can adjust the area by grabbing the edges or corners with your mouse and dragging the border(s).
When you are happy with your selection, right-click inside the highlighted area and choose 'Crop'.
Next we will resize the image for the web but first, click on the magnifying glass if necessary and then click on the image, until 100% is displayed in the program bar at the very top of the screen. You can also zoom in/out via the 'View' menu on the main toolbar. Although this step is not absolutely necessary, it helps because it gives a clearer idea of the actual image size rather than a zoomed out version.
Choose 'Image' from the main toolbar > Resize > Image Size. An image size box should appear showing the current dimensions of your image. Ensure the 'Constrain Proportions' tick box is ticked. In the 'Pixel Dimensions' fields, choose pixels. Type your desired width into the width field and the height field should adjust automatically. Click 'OK' and the image should resize.
Sometimes, as a result of resizing, the image can become a little blurred. To sharpen the image choose Filter > Sharpen > Sharpen.
Once you are happy with the results choose File > Save, to overwrite the original image, or File > Save As, and choose another name before saving the image. Make sure the image is a jpeg. When you click the 'Save' button in the 'Save As' box, you might see another box entitled JPEG Options. Choose 'Medium' in the dropdown box (this is a level of compression) and click 'OK'.
Your image is now ready for uploading to your web site.
